A Woman Who Became A “Vampire” By Covering Entire Body In Tattoos Issues Warning

Maria José Cristerna, a Mexican woman known as the “real-life vampire,” holds the Guinness World Record for the most body modifications in a woman, with 50 in total. Her changes include full-body tattoos (even her eyeballs), numerous piercings, subdermal implants in her arms and forehead, and a split tongue. She got her first tattoo at age 14, with her father eventually supporting her decision.

Cristerna describes body art as a deep form of self-expression. “Art runs through my veins,” she says. Her transformation is not only about appearance—it reflects her personal journey of overcoming a ten-year abusive and controlling marriage. Now, she dedicates herself to supporting women who have suffered from emotional, physical, or psychological violence. According to her, “Love for oneself is the only path out of abuse. We came here to be happy.”

While she embraces her appearance and plans to continue tattooing her entire body, she also shares a warning for others. She encourages young people to think carefully before undergoing extreme changes: “It’s irreversible. You need to be sure. Trends can fade, and you might not feel the same way later.”

Despite the pain of certain modifications—especially eye pigmentation and arm implants—she remains proud of her journey. “There are no limits. If you put your mind to something, nothing is impossible,” she says. Cristerna recently shared a new tattoo on Instagram, celebrating her ongoing transformation.

Her body tells a story of strength, freedom, and identity—and she proudly adds, “I don’t care what people think of me. What matters is that I know who I am.”
