Scandalous TV preacher passes away at age 90

Jimmy Swaggart, once a famous American televangelist and gospel singer, has died at age 90 after two weeks in a Louisiana hospital, his family announced. He passed away following a cardiac arrest on June 15, with his son Donnie saying he had been in critical condition.

A message on his official Facebook page said, “Brother Swaggart has finished his earthly race and entered the presence of His Savior, Jesus Christ.” Born in 1935 in Ferriday, Louisiana, Swaggart began preaching as a teenager. He and his wife Frances lived in poverty, often staying in church basements and motels. His ministry grew after he started radio broadcasts in 1969 and launched a TV show in 1971, reaching millions.
